Brief Report of 2018 AGM
The Rye Conservation Society 46th AGM was held in the Town Hall on Friday 27 April. The meeting began at 11.15 and attracted a higher than usual turnout of some 90 paid up members. Following reports from the Chairman and Treasurer there was a contested ballot for a new Chairman following the retirement of John Griffiths.
Following speeches from both candidates and questions to the candidates from the floor a ballot took place and the results were as follows:
David Bookless 50 Votes
Anthony Kimber 35 Votes
Following the election the meeting moved quickly on to the rest of the agenda.
David Bookless proposed that John Griffiths be nominated as President, this was seconded by Julian Luckett and approved with applause by the meeting.
The AGM was followed by an excellent lunch in the Mermaid Inn attended by 45 members of the Society.
The list of new committee members can be read here. The Society will be looking for a Secretary to assist with administration and meetings.
