Summer Garden Party
It has been a wonderfully sunny Summer so far and it continued to shine for the annual Conservation Society Garden Party on Sunday 8 July. In fact members sought the shade in Niki and Andy's lovely garden which they had kindly loaned to the Society for the afternoon. There were also tea, coffee and lovely traditional scones supplied by Fletchers with jam and cream made in the traditional Cornish way. Niki Stuart made a great version of 'Pymms' which went down a treat on such a hot day.
The Chairman of Bexhill Heritage had been invited and we had a useful discussion about how we might work together on conservation matters of common interest. We will be organising a visit to Bexhill in the future to learn more about the history and architecture of the town.
We were pleased that over 100 people attended including the Deputy Rye Mayor, some new members and a couple of people new to Rye who joined up having tasted the scones and 'Pymms'. All in all a successful afternoon.
